The children of Joseph; Ephraim and Manasseh complained to Joshua that the Canaanites in the land of the valley had chariots of iron and were a strong people. But Joshua reassured the children of Joseph (Ephraim and Manasseh) that they were a great people who had great power (greatness and power given to them by God over every other power and people) and therefore they had everything that was required to drive out the Canaanites no matter how powerful they appeared to be and no matter the weapons at their disposal. Please read Joshua Chapter 17 verses 14 to 18.
Beloved, power,
all power in heaven and earth and wherever belong to God and as long as you are
hidden in God through Christ Jesus, you have access to this great and awesome
power and you can be used by God to dislodge whatever and whoever opposes you
in your path and journey to fulfilling divine purpose.
Do not look at
your seeming insignificant resources, weapons of warfare, personality, etc.
Rather, look at God and His awesome power at work in you; that same power that
raised Jesus Christ from the dead, that devastated Egypt and the children of
Israel were released from Egypt on the night that all the first born males of
Egypt were slain by God, that same that provided water in unlikely places in
the wilderness; that same power that parted the Red Sea and made a way for them
children of Israel to cross over to Canaan but swallowed Pharaoh and his finest
crop of soldiers; that same power that brought down the walls of Jericho
without the use of explosives; that same power that drove out the inhabitants
of Canaan and made the Israelites the owners of Canaan, that same power which holds
the world in one piece, that keeps you
and I safe from all the antics and machinations of the devil and his cohorts;
that same power that brought Goliath down with a stone, that destroyed
Sennecherib and his army, that humiliated the evil trio of Sanballat, Tobiah
and Geshem.
You may not have
what you think are the resources you require. But you have the word of God.
Beloved, there is great power in the word of God. Please read Isaiah Chapter 55
All Elisha had was
the Spirit of God at work in him and the word of God. Elisha did not own the
resources required to put an end to the famine in Samaria which had turned some
people into cannibals. But Elisha had access to God and knew the mind of God on
certain issues. Therefore, acting by the Spirit of God, Elisha consistently
spoke the mind of God on and to issues, situations and circumstances which
troubled him and the people of God.
Significantly and
quite instructive to the people of God is that those words provided and became
the solutions to the challenges experienced by the people. Famine came to an
end in Samaria in one day not because manna and quail fell from heaven; not
because a wealthier nation gave food aid. Famine came to an end because God
orchestrated a situation which made the enemies of Samaria abandon their well-stocked
camp designed to withstand a siege of months against Samaria. What the enemy
left behind was so much that the famine came to an end and food prices crashed
to what Elisha prophesied. Please read 2nd Kings Chapter 7. Elisha spoke
the words of God and the words of God accomplished divine purpose.
