Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem yet His fame was in all the earth. The Bible records that multitudes followed Him. This means that as His ministry grew, His audience grew progressively from Bethlehem, Galilee to Jerusalem and other places. Significantly and quite instructive is the fact that He did not have access to the current technological and other advertising platforms that we have access to today for growing audiences.
Yet multitudes followed Him. What
was His secret? He depended on God. How? He invested quality time, the best
part of twenty four hours in communing with God in worship, praise and prayer
before meeting with people. The Bible records that Jesus woke up very early to
go to quiet places (where He could not be accessed, where He would not be
disturbed to commune with God. Please read Mark Chapter 1 verses 35 to 37, Luke
Chapter 6 verse 12. Thereafter, He met with the specific audience God wanted
Him to meet with and it was always miracles.
Jesus Christ was compassionate. He showed great compassion to the people. He healed the sick, forgave the ones who needed to be forgiven of their sins, He provided more than enough food for the people who were hungry with what appeared to be insufficient resources which multiplied and compounded into more than enough food for everyone present.
Multitudes
followed Jesus – Matthew Chapter 13 verses 1 to 2, John Chapter 6 verses 1 to
2, 24, Mark Chapter 6 verse 35, Luke Chapter 9 verses 10 to 12, to hear Him, to
see the miracles He performed; to partake of the miracles. Why? Because He
taught and preached what Gold wanted Him to teach;
and as He did so miracles were performed as the Word of God went forth. I
suggest you pray this prayer - Father, please give me the grace to speak as you
would have me speak – what exactly to say and how to say it, when to say it and
where to say it.
The people sought Jesus. He healed
many sick people, both those who requested for healing as well as those who did
not. The woman with the issue of blood had been bleeding for twelve, a period
in which she spent huge financial resources to seek a cure. But she found none
until she heard about Jesus and took the decision to touch the hem of his
garment. As she did so, the hitherto unceasing blood flow of twelve years
stanched. A long term ailment which had caused pain, shame, humiliation and
embarrassment came to an abrupt end.
The sick man at the pool in
Bethsaida did not even ask Jesus Christ for healing. He had never heard about
Jesus and did not know Jesus. So even when Jesus asked if he would be made
whole, the sick man gave a catalogue of excuse. But Jesus; full of compassion
and mercy looked beyond his ignorance and healed him.
Jesus Christ also travelled far and wide – Matthew Chapter 4 verse 23, Mark Chapter 1 verses 38 to 39.
He used synagogues for meeting
places and interacted with the people – Matthew Chapter 4 verse 23.
He taught people the truth of God and
people were drawn to Him– Matthew Chapter 4 verse 23.
He healed people of their diseases and
the people spread the word about Him so that other people who desired healing
came to see Him – Matthew Chapter 4 verses 23 to 25.
He interacted with people as He
walked along the villages and cities – Matthew Chapter 4 verses 18 to 22.
May God in His infinite mercy give
you the wisdom you require to grow your audience in whatever area of life in
which you require a great audience in the mighty name of Jesus Christ.
