Wealthier than the Palms

Written by Uyoyou Christiana Charles-Iyoha

The palm tree with its several varieties is said to one of the richest trees. This is because of the several uses to which about every part of the tree can be put to. The palm tree has multiple uses; it is used for making brooms, baskets, mats, brushes, etc.   Every part of the palm tree is useful as nothing is wasted. The fruit which is noted for its sweetness also has many uses.

There are over two thousand species of the palm tree but in this context, the date palm will be used. The palm tree has an average size of forty to fifty feet. The very tall ones get to a hundred feet and last for hundreds of years, say about four hundred years. The palm tree is noted for its hidden life – no amount of tampering destroys it. This speaks of stability and durability.  It is also not easy to uproot a palm tree. This is because it has a deep tap root that travels down for nourishment which explains why it is usually not affected by drought except in very severe cases of drought.  The root of the palm tree is deep and goes deep into the soil until it strikes the spring of water and then feeds the entire tree with water therefore making the tree fruitful. The palm tree is thus evergreen, always fresh and beautiful. You can also have such eternal freshness in Jesus mighty name, daily blossoming, bearing fruit and attractive. Please see Psalm 92 verse 12, Psalm 125 verse 1 and Psalm 1 verse 3. This also speaks of continuity in fruit bearing meaning that your life becomes sweeter each day in Jesus mighty name. Fatness refers to wealth, prosperity and riches while flourishing refers to spontaneous and luxurious growth.

Be a Flowing Stream

Written by Uyoyou Christiana Charles-Iyoha

Flowing streams distribute their God given resources, namely water as directed by God. That is why streams flow into rivers and rivers flow into seas and seas flow into oceans. That way, they distribute their natural resources as God would have them distribute such resources so that humanity and other living beings are blessed. In like manner, God expects everyone blessed with divine resources to distribute such resources as directed by God for the blessing of humanity as well as other living beings.

Resource distributors are not necessarily people who give away resources for free. They also include people who distribute resources for a fee such as the distributor of grain in Proverbs Chapter 11 verse 2b. He sold the grain yet was blessed for doing so. Joseph sold the grain that was harvested from the farms of the Egyptians to the Egyptians yet they blessed him. Please see Genesis Chaptre 41 verses 54 to 57, 42 verses 1 to 5, 47 verses 13 to 26.

Distributing resources expands resources as in the case of the diligent servants described in the parable of talents. Please see Matthew Chapter 25 verses 14 to 30.  The wicked and unprofitable servant was cast out into outer darkness because he refused to expand the resources he was blessed with through distributing it.

Run Your Race

 Written by Uyoyou Christiana Charles-Iyoha

Some people make the news while some others report the news. Yet there are many people who neither make the news nor report the news. They are usually content to stay in the sidelines, just watching the world go by, never commenting, never making suggestions or even criticizing. Such people are actually spectators in the race of life including the races they are supposed to run in life but which they either consciously or unconsciously refuse to run; choosing to be impassive spectators. Beloved, you cannot afford to be a spectator in your race. If you watch others and do not run your race, how on earth do you get to destination, especially if your destination is the top?

David for instance was ordained by God to become King in Israel even when King Saul was still on the throne and was grooming his son Jonathan to inherit the throne. Yet, David ran his race. He did not watch as an impassive spectator. He brought Goliath down and ended the intimation and oppression of Israel by the Philistines through Goliath’s taunts and boasts. That earned him respect and great admiration by the people of Israel. Twice, David was opportune to hack down King Saul to smithereens yet David chose to do that which was honorable. He did not lay his hands on the Lord’s anointed. But when the Amalekites attempted to bring sorrow to David and his men after they burned down Ziklag and took the women and children captive, David ran an extremely competitive race. Tired, weary and to some extent uncertain of what lay ahead, David enquired of the Lord what next steps to take. Guided by the Lord, David outran the Amalekites and recovered all that they had attempted to steal from him.

Severally, the enemy attempts to steal and could actually succeed if you act as an impassive spectator in the race of life. But if you get on your knees and respond to the blast of the gun to begin the race, you definitely can by the Spirit of God outrun the enemy no matter how far he has gone. So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him. Isaiah Chapter 59 verse 19.

Therefore, Stop looking at people running their own race (1st Corinthians Chapter 9 verses 24 to 27, 2nd Timothy Chapter 4 verses 6 to 8, Philemon Chapter 1 verse 6) because you will succeed just as David succeeded.
