Do Not Allow Fear to Limit You

Written by Uyoyou C. Charles-Iyoha

Fear immobilized the army of Israel and Goliath had a field day. The army of God who had marched out to battle against the Philistines could not proceed to actual battle as they cowered in fear of Goliath’s threats for forty days. They were stuck in a rut and could not make progress until God intervened in the situation through David who challenged Goliath. The boldness God gave to David was what ended the oppression and lack of progress because God also energized, emboldened and empowered David to kill Goliath. The moment Goliath (the fear causing agent of the devil) was killed, the Israelites rose against the Philistines and the battle was in their favor as the Philistines were routed and destroyed. There was therefore no need for fear but because they gave in to fear, the devil used that fear as a quicksand to halt progress for forty days and who knows how many more years if God had not intervened through David who showed up. Beloved, kill and destroy the quicksand of fear in your life through absolute faith in God to deliver you. When you believe that God is always for you and that all power belongs to Him, you will always be bold which explains why the Bible says that the righteous are as bold as a lion.

Why Does the Enemy Use Fear?

To  give the impression that he is powerful, therefore has an edge over you but the truth is that you are the one who actually has an edge over him because greater is He that is in you – the King of kings and Lord of lords to whom the enemy is subject and has no power.

The enemy uses fear to keep you immobilized and hinder you from making progress. Fear has a way of making a person rooted to a spot, unable to act, to think of a solution and to even look up to God.

To rob you of faith, the presence of God and of course divine solutions.

To drive you to wrong actions, utterances, relationships that will make you sin against God so that you lose God’s covering, favor and protection. Lot fathered children by his daughters because of fear.

Why You Should Not Be Afraid

God is your father and He is always there for you.

God will never fail you. He will come right on time and shame your enemies.

Finally, look at these scriptures and draw strength from the great and mighty things God did for His people in times past (Zechariah Chapter 8 verses 13b, 15, Joshua Chapter 1 verse 9, Jeremia Chapter 29 verses 10 to 14, Isaiah Chapter 44 verses 1 to 8, 43 verses 1 to 5, 41 verses 8 to 20).

Till I come your way again, shalom.

Become Extraordinary

Written by Uyoyou. C. Charles-Iyoha

Extraordinary people are ordinary people performing ordinary tasks in an extraordinary way. It is the daily ordinary tasks, the tasks people take for granted that ordinary people pay special attention to and improvise that become extraordinary activities that make us call ordinary people geniuses.

You can become extraordinary by processing the ordinary into the extraordinary. I always talk and write about the Late Sam Walton of blessed memory. Sam Walton set out to build a store, a regular store that everyone else had but Sam Walton decided to make his store a very customer friendly store. Customers kept returning and the store grew bigger and bigger until another store was required and yet another store was required until what started in a small town became a global enterprise, in fact one of the most successful global enterprises on the face of the earth. As Walmart Stores expanded, customer friendly practices improved and are still being improved upon. There is certainly no limit to their growth in spite of the fact that Sam Walton left this earth a long time ago. Why is that? The group has cultivated, maintain and do sustain at all times a culture of customer friendliness that keeps drawing customers to them.

Mark Zuckerberg created Facebook based on what he saw on campus. Today, Facebook appears to be a platform imported from the stratosphere whereas it was thought out by an observant and attentive Mark who observed how students interacted with each other on the same campus and outside their campuses, what they desired to see and hear as well as what they wanted to know. Before then, there were other social media sites. But Mark went ahead and developed Facebook; taking the ordinary to the extraordinary by including additional features. Today, Facebook ranks as one of the most patronized and visited social network because a Harvard Sophomore paid attention and diligently took social interactions online and created space for people to interact globally irrespective of geographical and time barriers.

Extraordinary people are always making money – strategizing on how to make more money, how to turn the seemingly ordinary into an extraordinary money making activity, event, talent, service, product, etc. They think – do the thinking while others do the work. Extraordinary people see what other people do not see. They see money in what many people consider waste. In essence, they see wealth in waste, challenges and seeming insurmountable problems. They also grow money at all times and even when they spend money, they are spending money on what will yield more money.

Extraordinary people develop their relationships and partnerships around money making opportunities and access to what they need/want.

Till I come your way again, make the most of what you have to become extraordinary. Shalom

Types of Seeds

Acts of charity
One of the mysteries of the kingdom of God is giving to receive in leaps and bounds as stated in Luke Chapter 6 verse 38. How does giving increase a person? It is the principle of sowing and harvesting.  A seed sown is never harvested as a single seed. It is harvested in multiples. A grain of corn produces a stalk of corn and many cobs of corn that have several seeds for eating, selling, giving to the poor and replanting for a fresh harvest. A mango seed that is planted produces a mango tree that fruits several mango fruits with every fruiting season. It only stops fruiting when the tree is cut down. While some seeds are harvested as seasonal or annual crops only when they are planted, for example the grain of corn; there are seeds like the mango seed that does not have to be replanted for a fresh harvest. Each year, the mango tree produces a fresh harvest without any seed being replanted. However for the purpose of expanding beyond a tree to an orchard, a mango fruit farm for processing mango fruit juice, more mango seeds can be replanted; preferably on a large expanse of land so that fruits that fall and are not picked up will germinate to more mango trees, fresh harvests and a growing orchard or farm.

v  Use the gift of liberality for profit.

v  Give cheerfully.

v  Give to meet needs so that people will be happy, grateful to God, pray for you and your account in heaven is credited.

v  Give out of love for God.

v  Thank God for every opportunity to give.

v  Thank God for the ability to give.

v  Thank God for accepting your gifts. It is not every person who gives that God accepts their gifts.

Events are one off activities. Daily living entails living out the realities of life on a day by day basis. Events are good and important but what really counts is living out the realities of life on a day by day basis according to the word of God, His plans and purposes for your life. Thanks-living instead of thanksgiving is the norm and ideal for every Christian. Every day of life is actually a time and opportunity to thank God for who He is, His faithful provision, protection, care, forgiveness, direction, love, favor, gifts and many other blessings too numerous to count. The Psalmist captures this neatly when He says in Psalm 107 that “Oh give thanks unto the Lord for His mercy endures forever”.

All giving should reflect the love of God as well love for the people of God. God knows how to touch the hearts of His people to give to Him and for his projects on earth.
Finally, always give to reflect where you are going. Give to activate abundant wealth. Do not give to reflect poverty and lack. Giving in spite of prevailing circumstances is a demonstration of your faith in God as your Provider, Promoter, Multiplier and Compounder of resources.

1.      Service

Jacob the patriarch who later became Israel earned bread, seeds, wives and children through service sown as seed. He served his uncle Laban for more than twenty years and received in exchange everything a young man could ask for in life. Jacob served to get what he needed – human resources, financial resources and livestock. He did not make Esau’s mistake. In serving Laban, he took over ownership of Laban’s two daughters, the many children born to him by the two sisters, their maid servants and the many children also born to him by the maidservants; and lastly, a very good portion of Laban’s wealth. Esau would have been very contented with all of these. But not Jacob who had purpose to fulfill! He moved on, away from Laban to fulfill God’s plans and purposes for his life in the land of promise. Service can be exchanged for seed and bread.

Ruth gleaned for bread. Her good character coupled with her positive attitude earned her more than bread. She became the wife of Boaz, the owner of the field she gleaned from as well as co-owner of the field.

It is significant to mention here that gleaning is not servitude. It is not a platform to be insulted and treated like scum. Gleaning is not a reason for the owner of the field to be arrogant and nasty. Boaz treated Ruth with respect. Not once was she humiliated. Naomi also treated Ruth with respect and even when she had settled Ruth comfortably in Boaz’ house, she did not humiliate Ruth. This goes without saying that owners of fields should endeavor to behave like Boaz and Naomi.

2. Your brand

Your brand is a great seed, again the seed that has the capacity to self seed. Jesus Christ is the greatest example in human history. Till eternity begins, the Jesus brand is still self seeding. Other strong biblical brands but not in the category of the Jesus Christ brand are Joseph and Daniel. Their brands spoke for them anywhere they went and before whoever they stood. Their brands grew stronger and prosperous with each new usage.

Your brand like the mustard seed, the smallest seed has the potential and capacity to be diversified. The mustard seed best illustrates and is very explanatory of how small beginnings rooted in God grow to great and global expansion. However, for small beginnings to expand, the small beginnings have to be implemented just as the mustard seed is planted. Exploit your talents, ideas, skills from the very base level and continue working on them till you grow and expand to God’s heights for you. In like manner, your brand has to be showcased, marketed and sold just as the mustard seed is planted and nurtured from the tiny seed to the great tree it becomes. Sam Walton set out to establish a great store that will make shopping a delightful experience for people. That one store tended lovingly and wisely multiplied and compounded into several stores globally.

Significance of Seeds over Bread

Excerpts from Grow Your Seeds by Uyoyou C Charles-Iyoha

The story is told of three very wealthy men who once lived in a kingdom. They were so wealthy that soon there was an outcry against them by the citizens of the kingdom. When word got to the King, he decided to act in the interest of peace. So he appealed to the three wealthy men to share their wealth among the citizens of the kingdom. Very happily, they did so and everyone was happy and there was peace in the kingdom. The suddenly comfortable people indulged themselves in every imaginable luxury while the three wealthy men went back to the business of multiplying resources. Surprisingly, in just three months, they recouped their wealth while the vast majority of the citizens who saw easy money went back to bankruptcy. What happened? They had not learned how to manage seeds. So they consumed both bread and seed.

A wise use of the wealth of the three wealthy citizens should have been business mentorship programs that would include business set up opportunities as well as enterprise finance for the financially challenged citizens. But the people ignorantly requested bread which was hurriedly eaten up.

Have you ever wondered why God gives more of seeds than bread? So that man can have an abundance of both seed and bread since every seed reproduces bread and seed. The challenge with seeds which everyone is abundantly endowed with is the wisdom to refine the seeds to high accent, the wisdom to plant them in soils with high yield potentials as well as the wisdom to harvest them for profit and abundance. Surprisingly, wisdom belongs to God and can be requested from God, Please, see 1st King Chapter 3 verses 5 to 15, James Chapter 1 verse 5, Proverbs Chapters 8 and 9.

Wisdom is what empowers you to turn a hundred dollars into billions of dollars, a singing talent into good money, a sculpting talent, a painting talent, writing talent into global wealth and honor. No wonder King Solomon wrote that wisdom is the principal thing. Father, grant me the wisdom to generate billions of dollars from what I do to bless humanity. Beloved, God will certainly give you the wisdom to do so and once received, please, apply the wisdom. You will certainly see results.

While seeds differ and vary as faces and needs differ, there is a seed that stands out amongst other seeds. This is the single most important seed that you need. This is the seed that births other seeds and places you above all the nations of the earth. This seed is your relationship with God.

Jacob realized this on his flight from his brother Esau after he stole the birthright that was Esau’s. At Luz which he renamed Bethel, Jacob had an encounter with God that revolutionized his thinking and transformed his life. For once, Jacob realized that his source of bread and all the things of life that man craves for is God. So he made a commitment to serve God. Please, see Genesis Chapter 28 verses 11 to 22.  That commitment eventually paid off as God was with him in his long sojourn with his uncle, Laban; his eventual return to Canaan and his sojourn in Egypt. This seed of a fervent relationship with God sustained Jacob till the end of his life. This was the seed he held on to when he realized that the stolen birthright was a pyrrhic victory with Esau hot in pursuit and determined to kill him; when Laban cheated him severally; when Rachel died; when his sons Simeon and Levi murdered the men of Shechem and when Joseph was presumed dead. The fervent relationship Jacob had cultivated with God over the years kept him. This seed is the greatest seed. It never fails and it sustains when other seeds fail. It is the seed that reactivates sick, dying and even dead seeds. In your quest for seeds, let this seed be the most important seed you seek and treasure.

A life of multiple seeds that is not connected to God is no life as it ends in shame and humiliation. Nebuchadnezzar survived the humiliation and humbly returned to God.  Belshazzar, the King of Babylon did not survive it. Herod died and rotted on the spot. Sennacherib was killed by his two sons while worshipping his god in the house of his god.

God is the One Who supplies and multiplies seed to the sower. As a seed or seeds are planted, God alone determines the increase. This is why He says in Deuteronomy Chapter 28 verse 12 that He will bless all the work of your hand so that you will lend to many nations and not borrow. One of the ways God blesses the work of your hand is to multiply whatever seeds you plant; that is whatever use you put your skills, your talents and divine ideas to. God will ensure that you profit from them in leaps and bounds and will additionally teach you how to expand the skill, talent and divine idea beyond the initial seed planted to several seeds and numerous harvests that move you beyond a single income stream to multiple income streams. A teacher who teaches can also document the knowledge in books and become an Author, set up his or her own school, become a Trainer and earn additional income from these activities.

How to Kill Procrastination

Excerpts from Grow Your Seeds by Uyoyou C Charles-Iyoha

Procrastination is said to be the thief of time and if you permit me, I will add wealth, favor and all the blessings God prepared for His children. The thief of time is no ordinary thief. This thief is a very skilled thief. He steals of what is important to your success and dignity in life without you ever knowing that he is the one at work. Slowly, but tactically and in a very organized way procrastination takes control of the procrastinator’s life. The procrastinator always has an excuse for putting anything that needs to be done off. Decision to be taken to propel a person forward, avert danger, save a life, introduce new changes for major breakthroughs are put off to a later date that is of course again postponed because of procrastination. Same goes for activities, utterances to be made, and appointments to be kept. The procrastinator just keeps putting things off.

Surprisingly, procrastination is not really a function of laziness. It is most often the result of fear, the fear of leaving the familiar for the unfamiliar, the fear of treading in untested waters, the fear of success, the fear of failure, the fear of prosperity, the fear of living a holy life, the fear of making a lot of money, the fear of being known, and just about any fear you can think of. Procrastination can also be a result of a bad habit of leaving assignments undone to be done at a person’s earliest convenience. However, a person’s earliest convenience may wreak havoc on the activities of other people.

This explains why smart people who are daily forging ahead in their daily businesses never want anything to do with a person who procrastinates. The simple act of procrastination can put a billion dollar business in jeopardy, create chaos that may take days, weeks and months to bring under control, destroy lives especially in the case of emergencies. Take for instance a situation of natural or manmade disasters where help is required immediately and a procrastinator is the one who has to provide that help. So many lives will be lost before the procrastinator shows up.

No wonder the Bible condemns the lazy farmer who kept sleeping in; postponing the day for ridding his farm of weeds in Proverbs Chapter 24 verses 30 to 34. The farm was overgrown with thorns and nettles; and its stone wall was eventually broken down. Particularly instructive is the fact that this very promising farm was ruined on account of procrastination, “a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest” was what invited poverty into the procrastinator’s life.

Procrastination is an entry point of the devil, a strong legal ground which you give the devil to operate on. Acting promptly is what kills procrastination. Procrastination has cost me quite a lot and I have had to learn the way. That is why I appeal to you to get rid of it from your system if you have a problem with procrastination. I recall that God instructed me to move out of a particular office space which I honestly loathed but tolerated because the rent was peanuts. I hate to admit that I was penny wise and pound foolish particularly so when God asked me to move to a more decent office space that I could easily afford. That penny pinching office space sandwiched between rows of other offices went up in flames one night when one of the neighbours got careless. What a way to learn but I did learn. That explains why I always say that whatever you have to do should be done promptly.  Remember that the early bird catches the fattest worm. Procrastination is also why I delayed on http://www.olivesinternational.com. I was to commence publishing in 2008, especially 2009 and 2010 when I had the resources to act. But I celebrated ignorance and refused to act hoping that as time wore on, I would get the ideas without seeking knowledge. I could have dealt with the ignorance part by seeking knowledge. Instead, I just waited believing that someday light will come. But what would have happened if I diligently sought out the light then? I would have become a billionaire earlier and saved myself the financial and emotional hardship coupled with the humiliation I experienced as I struggled financially in 2011 and 2012.
