Excerpts From
Unlock the Billions in You by Uyoyou C. Charles-Iyoha
The
hand of the diligent will rule but the lazy man will be put to forced labor.
(Diligent refers to care and effort in your work while diligence refers to
careful and thorough work or effort. It is the extra care and effort known as
diligence which you put into your work that produces excellence. Excellence is
what stands you out from the pack and separates the grain from the chaff, the
successful and brilliant from the average. Excellence is the extra attention
paid to little details that ordinary men and women say do not matter. But those
details matter a great deal. They are the neat finishing touches to a dress,
the final edits for a crossed t and a dotted i in an article or a book, the
final draft of a house plan before the house is built, the quality control
check on vehicles, machines, medicines, chemicals, the final checks before a
plane takes off.
Every
diligent hand ultimately rules. David ruled. Nehemiah ruled. Esther ruled.
Joseph ruled. Daniel ruled. Most of the outstanding designer labels you and I
crave for rule. The A brands products and services that you and I prefer and
which command higher prices and attention rule. The wealthy and successful
businessmen you and I celebrate rule because they paid attention to the little
but very significant details which turned their divine gifts into high yield
economic activities.
The
Bible (NKJV) describes diligence as man’s precious possession in Proverbs
Chapter 12 verse 27. The NLT version puts this same scripture this way; “the
diligent make use of everything they find”. What this means in essence is
resourcefulness, putting your talents and ideas to profitable use. This is
particularly instructive regarding the significance of diligence to accessing
wealth and success. In Proverbs Chapter 10 verse 4b, the Bible makes it clear
that the hand of the diligent makes rich. Why not? Proverbs Chapter 22 verse 29
(NKJV) says it all. “Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand
before kings: he will not stand before unknown men”. NLT puts it this way. “Do
you see any truly competent workers? They will serve kings rather than ordinary
people. NIV puts it this way. “Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will
serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men. Amplified version
puts it this way. “Do you see a man diligent and skillful in his business? He
will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.
Joseph
and Daniel rose to positions of great power, influence, wealth and significance
in foreign lands. Though God was mightily with them and favored them, these two
young men were knowledgeable, diligent and excelled in their assigned tasks and
positions. In point of fact, their expertise and contribution to the
development of these two nations made these global leaders of their time
acknowledge that these young men were filled and ruled by the Spirit of God.
This is because no other spirit could produce excellence. Therefore, to excel
in any field of endeavor, you need the Spirit of God for instruction in
excellence.
Work
at excelling in whatever you choose to do. It may be hard work and no one
notices the extra efforts you put in. Go ahead and excel for it is in the
excellent work that you do that the bright future comprising comfort, financial
abundance, security, fame and applause come in. Celebrate excellence and avoid
mediocrity at all costs. Ignorance, incorrigibility, good, average and refusal to trade talents could represent
obscurity and mediocrity which are actually hindrances to excellence, global
visibility, prominence, influence as well as accessing billions. To move on to
excellence, build on and refine ideas beyond present global excellence and you
will emerge. That was what Joseph and Daniel did. They innovated on existing
ideas by linking them with divine standards. The kings these Hebrew young men
served always had dream interpreters. Yet, when it was God's time for the two
Hebrew young men to emerge as global leaders of prominence and influence, they
did nothing extraordinary other than to connect with God and interpret the
dreams as taught by God. Beloved, what social problems are you solving? What is
the source of your solutions and how are you applying the solutions – boldly or
timidly? Innovate on existing ideas through God and make a difference. Both
Joseph and Daniel were always learning to understand in greater detail and they
did not hide their knowledge in the ground like the servant with one talent.
They were always applying the lessons learnt and were therefore always
fruitful.
