Focus on Solutions

Written by Uyoyou Christiana Charles-Iyoha

Every problem has a solution. That is why it is said that problems or challenges are stepping stones to greatness. Therefore, it always best to focus on solutions and not problems. Besides, when you focus on finding solutions to a problem, you are actually taking sides with God to deal the enemy a blow. This is because God the Creator and Owner of the heavens and the earth in His infinite wisdom has solutions to every problem or challenge, whether named or unnamed. Significantly, God loves to give this wisdom to His children who seek solutions to challenges that come their way. Besides, creative people always have divinely received ways to navigate difficult circumstances and satanic obstacles placed in their pathways.

The Bible records that Daniel’s young life was threatened by a hasty death sentence from King Nebuchadnezzar who said that all the wise men in Babylon should be killed on account of their inability to tell him the dream he dreamt and forgot. Rather than stew on dying young at the hands of whom everybody probably referred to as a wicked king, Daniel sought solutions to the problem. He ran to God to reveal King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream alongside the interpretation to him. God honored Daniel’s request and the dream alongside its interpretation was revealed to Daniel. As soon as Daniel told the King his dream and interpretation, the killings stopped.

David focused on the solutions to Goliath’s intimidation and was able to act and bring an end to the intimidation and oppression of forty day and nights. Saul’s army including King Saul focused on the problems and were immobilized for forty days and nights, frightened to the roots of their hairs by the threats of Goliath. But because David focused on the solutions, that is how to kill Goliath by the power of God and free the army of Israel from his intimidation, God gave David the divine idea of how to kill and experienced warrior who was also a giant. Focusing on a problem always magnifies the problem while focusing on the solution simplifies the problem. For instance, David’s faithful men who had stood by him through thick and thin suddenly turned against David and contemplated stoning David because their wives and children had been taken captive by unknown marauders. These brave men had wept like women and completely at a loss as to what next to do because they were overwhelmed by the magnitude of the problem, they turned against David. But fortunately for them, David focused on finding a solution to the supposedly loss of wives and children. In his characteristic manner of always turning to God for help in order to source solutions to whatever assailed him, David sought help from God and God instructed David on what to do. Eventually, David and his men caught up with the marauders and rescued their wives and children. This was because David chose to focus on finding a solution to the problem rather than focusing on the problem. If he had behaved like his men, he marauders would have probably been long gone without hope of ever finding their wives and children again.

Esther and Mordecai focused on the solutions to the threat of the Jews being annihilated by the evil decree of Haman. Rather than focus on the decree that had been signed for their annihilation on a certain day, they cried to God to find ways around circumventing the irreversible laws of Persia. God showed up for them and gave them His divine wisdom for circumventing the irreversible laws. In the end, Haman paid for his evil while the Jews overcame as they were empowered by a new decree to rise up in arms against anyone who attempted to kill them.
