Prepare for Abundance 3

Written by Uyoyou Christiana Charles-Iyoha

Do what God asks of you and He will supply the abundance you require in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. The keyword is PREPARE.

Jesus Christ asked the servants at the wedding feast in Canaan to fill the water pots with water. And they filled them up to the brim. Six water pots filled to the brim speaks of adequate preparation for abundance as the Bible records that the six water pots were about one hundred and eighty gallons of water, albeit, one hundred and eighty gallons of wine. Quite significant and instructive is the fact that the only task assigned the servants in preparation for the forthcoming abundance was to fill all six water pots to the brim. The turning of the water into wine was the task and responsibility of Jesus Christ for as soon as the water pots were filled to the brim, Jesus asked them to draw some “supposedly water” out to give to the Master of the feast. Upon tasting the supposedly water now turned wine, in point of fact very good wine, the master of the feast commended the bridegroom for reserving the good wine till the end of the feast. Please read John Chapter 2 verses 1 to 10. It is significant to note that what appeared to be a situation of lack that was about to bring disgrace and reproach to the family turned out to be a situation of surplus, overflowing abundance because God in His infinite mercies intervened and quite instructive is the fact that the people obeyed the divine instruction to prepare for abundance. The result was the miraculous supply of abundant wine at the wedding feast.

Prophet Elisha instructed the widow of the indebted prophet to borrow many empty vessels from everywhere. He specified that the empty vessels to be borrowed should be many and should therefore be sourced from everywhere, including their neighbors. Beloved, please, note the prophet placed emphasis on many empty vessels and from anywhere they could be sourced from. Again, the prophet specified only empty vessels and not filled ones. In the case of the water pots, they already existed and only had to be filled with water. But in the case of the widow, there were no vessels though there was a jar of oil that could be divinely multiplied and compounded to fill as many empty jars as she could source. However, she lacked many empty vessels which she had to borrow as there was no money to buy them. Fortunately, God gave her favor and she was able to borrow many empty vessels which were filled to the brim from a single jar of oil which God divinely multiplied and compounded. What was required in the case of the water pots was something to change the taste of water to wine which Jesus did effortlessly. In the same way, a single jar of oil multiplied and compounded into several filled vessels of oil that were sold to pay off the family debt. It is instructive to note that the preparation of the widow was instructive. She did not sit at home to weep over and lament the impending doom. She sought God’s intervention and direction and when instructed on what to do, she complied and God did the rest. Disgrace and shame was removed from her family because she prepared. Please read 2nd Kings Chapter 4 verses 1 to 7. How willing are you to prepare?

The same prophet Elisha instructed the soldiers of Israel and allied nations fighting against Moab to make the valley full of ditches. Their task was to dig a good number of ditches in the valley. God’s task and responsibility was to fill the ditches and land with water. Significantly, there was no sign of water as they dug but by morning, the land was filled with water. Please read 2nd King Chapter 3 verses 16 to 20 for details.
