The Dynamics of Divine Wealth Transfer

One of the dynamics of divine wealth transfer is wisdom as in the case of King Solomon whose wisdom was a source of wealth. Kings, queens, and a number of people from diverse backgrounds brought treasures of gold, silver, and other resources to King Solomon as gifts as they came from far and wide to hear his God given wisdom.

Yet another dynamic is divine favor as in the case of the Israelites in Egypt. They requested gold and silver items as well as clothing from the Egyptians and received. Please read Exodus Chapters 3 verses 21 to 22, 11 verses 2 to 3, 12 verses 35 to 36, and Psalm 105 verses 43 to 45. God made the Israelites inherit the land and labor of the nations, the original inhabitants of Canaan. Please read Genesis Chapter 15 verses 13 to 14.

Divine intervention, for instance when Jehovah the Man of war, the Lord Who is strong and mighty in battle, Who does not lose any battle intervenes in battles and defeats and destroys the enemy so that the wealth of the enemy is transferred to the people of God whom the enemy rose against. The Syrian army besieged Samaria to the point that the Bible records that there was a great famine in Samaria. As a result, cannibalism became the order of the day as some foolish women resorted to trading in their children for food at the advice of other wicked and ungodly women. When the king heard about this from the victim, a mother whose son had been boiled and eaten, the king tore his robes and threatened to kill the prophet Elisha.

Rather than react to the death threat, Elisha prophesied abundant supply of food that would put an end to the famine. Though a high ranking official of the king attempted to create doubt, wondering how on earth the prevailing famine would come to an abrupt end the following day, Elisha prophesied doom against the official. Significantly, the doubts expressed by the official did not stop God’s intervention because God works in mysterious ways. He did not rain food supplies from heaven. Rather, He used the same people who caused the famine to bring the famine to an end. How?

Divine Wealth Transfer

For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’  I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.” John Chapter 4 verses 37 to 38.

He brought forth His people with rejoicing, His chosen with shouts of joy. He gave them the lands of the nations, that they might inherit the fruit of others’ labor,  that they might keep His statutes and observe His laws. Hallelujah!…Psalm 105 verse 43 to 45.

Divine wealth transfer is as old as humanity. Wealthy parents have always transferred wealth to their children either by way of inheritance when they leave this world or apportioning each child his or her share of the wealth while they are still alive. Wealthy relations are also known to bequeath their wealth to either blood relations or loved ones. Whichever be the case, the fact is that wealth always gets transferred as it is never static.

God always transfers wealth to His own; not by might nor by power but by His Spirit and usually at His appointed time. A number of biblical case studies attest to this fact. The Israelites for instance labored in Egypt for a long time, were treated badly but at God’s appointed time, the same people who despised them and used them for slave labor gladly gave them their articles of silver and gold and clothing thereby enriching the Israelites on the eve of their departure from Egypt. Please see Exodus Chapters 3 verses 21 to 22; 11 verses 2 to 3; 12 verses 35 to 36. This wealth which was divinely transferred to them came in handy and served the great divine purpose of giving offerings to the Lord for the building of the tabernacle when the need arose to build the Tabernacle of God in the wilderness. Please read Exodus Chapters 25 verses 1 to 8; 34 verses 4 to 10, 21 to 29. Additionally, some of the skills they had acquired in Egypt such as spinning yarn for fabrics, dyeing them in brilliant colors were also offered to the Lord as offerings.

Recognizing Wealth 2

Beloved, isn’t it ironic that a person so blessed and so endowed with wealth despised the wealth, sold it for peanuts and went in quest of poverty? Could this be akin to what Esau did? Significantly, and this is quite instructive. A great many of us; including me are no different from Ali Hafed. How often do we disdain real wealth and throw it away completely for what glitters that is nowhere near gold. I recall my early days in the jewelry business when I collected stock from any aunt to sell. She had capital and could bring in large quantities of real stuff – corals, pearls, gold and costume and quality costume and regular everyday jewelry. I preferred to sell corals and pearls because I understood and knew how tell the real from the fake. But when it came to gold and costume, I was a rookie. So when my aunt gave me some earrings to string corals and pearls earrings with, I returned them when I saw another set that had a greater glitter. My aunt tried to prevail against my decision to return the gold in favor of the glitter. I ignored her and insisted on the glitter.

Fortunately, I kept some of the non glitters for myself, just four of them and till date, I am ever grateful to God who led me that way as all the glitters have since faded. Talk about knowing the worth of what you own. Well, I have learnt and I am still learning that there is great wisdom in unearthing the blessings of God for one’s life daily enriching one’s life with the word of God. This is because the word of God will open your eyes of understanding to the hidden riches of God in you so that you can skillfully by the help of the Holy Spirit mine your true wealth.

Prepare for the Future

Every position you are in today is an opportunity given to you by God to effect future changes in your life. Please see John Chapter 9 verse 4. Therefore invest well by utilizing the opportunity of your present position to invest well for your future because every opportunity given to you is to effect a change. Every street they say is lined with gold but that gold can only be seen when your eyes are opened to see the gold.

Joseph utilized the opportunity of his present position in prison to prepare for his future by being kind and compassionate to his fellow prisoners, obedient to the leadership of the prison. Additionally, he interpreted the dreams of the baker and butler of Pharaoh who were also imprisoned in the royal gulag. Coincidence you may say but I dare to say, divine arrangement for the future God promised Joseph. Any position you find yourself in may be an opportunity which though disguised as a challenge or even an affliction is for a purpose. Joseph’s case is instructive as it buttresses Scriptures in Romans Chapter 8 verse 28. Joseph became a slave in Egypt not because the family lacked the resources to care for him but because his brothers sold him into slavery because they envied him. They capped up their wickedness by deceiving their father that Joseph was probably killed by a wild animal after dipping Joseph’s cloth in the blood of an animal. Also just when Joseph should have shouted hallelujah, it turned out that it was not yet uhuru as Potiphar’s wife lied about Joseph and Joseph was thrown into prison albeit, events orchestrated by God to bring Joseph before Pharaoh. Instructive and significant is the fact that Joseph took advantage of the opportunity of every position he found himself in and became great. You can also do same.

Access to Divine Resources

Divine resources are for divinely assigned tasks or permit me to say divine projects. Divine projects are projects specific to the plans and purposes of God for the common good and accomplishment of His purposes for humanity. The rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem was for the common good of humanity. Ezra and his team as well as the people of Judah and Benjamin who responded to the call of Cyrus to go rebuild the temple in Jerusalem accessed state resources that Cyrus released (Ezra Chapter 6 verses 3 to 4). Also, the gold and silver articles of the house of God which Nebuchadnezzar took from the temple in Jerusalem and brought to Babylon were restored to the people of Judah for onward transmission to Jerusalem for use in the new temple (Ezra Chapter 5 verses 13 to 15, 6 verse 5, 1 verses 1 to 11.

God prepared Cyrus to release the required resources while Ezra and his team were prepared by God to manage the required resources for the accomplishment of divine purposes in the divine timing of God. The Psalmist noted that kings would bring presents to God because of the temple of God at Jerusalem (Psalm 68 verses 29 to 31, 72 verses 10 to 11).

Much later, King Darius gave them additional state resources (Ezra Chapter 6 verses 8 to 14; money from taxes in the region beyond the River for the building of the temple and to be given immediately. King Artaxerxes also gave them access to state resources (Ezra Chapter 7 verses 20 to 24). The priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, Nethinims or servants of the house of God were also excluded from any form of taxation, tribute or custom.

Apart from these resources, the people received additional favor from God and their neighbors who also supported the building of the temple with their resources (Ezra Chapter 1 verses 4, 6). Additionally, the people of Judah and Benjamin, beginning with the leadership also gave generously and cheerfully for the rebuilding of the temple (Ezra Chapter 2 verses 68 to 69, Haggai Chapter 1 verses 12 to 15).

Give Yourself Permission to Prosper 1

Move: Refuse to be immobilized and rooted o a spot. The four lepers at the gate of Samaria moved from the city and gate of Samaria where there was famine to the camp of the Syrian army where there was abundance. Please see 2^nd Kings Chapter 7 verses 3 to 9.

The four leprous men at the entrance of the gate at Samaria were probably beggars which explain why they sat at the gate to receive alms. But alms were not forthcoming because of the long siege by Ben-Hadad, King of Syria against Samaria. The siege resulted in a famine that made people eat up their children (2^nd Kings Chapter 6 verses 24 to 33). Prices of food also skyrocketed. The King and people of Samaria were in a dilemma. When would the famine end? When and how would the siege end considering that they had no military might against Ben-Hadad? Besides inflation would continue to soar as long as the siege continued; and cannibalism would become the norm. Something had to be done and quickly too. The King threatened to kill Elisha and wondered why he should wait for God any longer when he was quite sure that the calamity was from God.

Build and Sustain Generational Wealth 2

King David also had multiple income streams from tributes from the nations he conquered in battles, spoils of war. He was a warrior and made great wealth from the spoils of war and tributes from the nations he subdued. Significantly, David never relied on his physical strength or military prowess or strategy for defeating and subduing and conquering nations.  He relied on God for victory in every battle. God honored David’s dependence on Him and gave him victory at all times in addition to preserving him from destruction. Every battle strategy and victory came from God and David always returned the glory to God. It is also significant that David always consulted God before going for any battle. Despite several victories in battle, David never took it for granted to get into any battle without asking counsel, favor and direction from God. David’s strength was in his total reliance  and dependence on God. That was his own power  to get wealth and God added divine military strategies that gave him victory on all sides – he conquered and subdued nations all around him and they paid him tributes in addition to all the spoils of war. 1^st Chronicles Chapter 18 verses 6, 13, 1^st Samuel Chapter 16 verse 18.

King David was an extremely wealthy man in his time and nation but over time his children, great great grandchildren surpassed his wealth. Significantly, he was the father of King Solomon, the wisest and wealthiest king of his time. His wealth and wisdom surpassed the wealth and wisdom of other kings. He was the wealthiest king globally.

So also were Jehoshaphat and Hezekiah, other members of the Davidic lineage. How then did David, a shepherd boy who later became a warrior king make so much money that he gave one hundred thousand talents of gold , one million talents of silver, bronze and iron beyond measure, timber and stone for the building of the  temple? 1^st Chronicles Chapter 22 verses 14 to 16. This figure was later increased in 1^st Chronicles Chapter 29 verses 2 to 5.
